It’s difficulty to declare a solid winner in the 32-bit 2D shooter wars, but the PS1 puts up an awesome fight against the Saturn. Theres an awful lot of them that look amost exactly the same. A couple of years ago, there were rumours of a Shienryu 2 for the Dreamcast. Here are the games I'm aware of so far, along with the direction of rotation: I used to play the Saturn version, then picked up the ST-V cart. Shienryu can be considered very much a stock saturn shooter. For reference, mine rotates clockwise, such that the left side becomes the top. Of course, most screens will only rotate in one direction, so it's somewhat important that the game rotates in the SAME direction. With rotatable LCD panels being somewhat common nowadays, it's nice to be able to have these games take up the entire viewing area instead of having massive black bars (or filler artwork) on either side. Granted, most supporting games will be Arcade ports, but I believe there are a few indie shmups that also support the alternate orientation.
